Finance Committee · Meeting of September 9, 2026

NORFOLK — The Norfolk Finance Committee approved $8,800 to restart water-level monitoring at Kingsbury Pond ahead of Franklin's permit talks over two nearby wells. Town Administrator Rob said the USGS monitoring station, dark since federal funding lapsed, needs to be running before October 1 and credited Franklin with "an amazing job of per capita water usage drop" after past well troubles. The committee also adopted May 11 and May 13 minutes, 2-0 with one abstention, and previewed a crowded November 10 Fall Town Meeting warrant, including an Inspector General-driven audit, a data center moratorium, a roughly $450,000 senior center parking lot project carrying a $139,000 state grant, and a recall-election citizen's petition filed by Jack Oliveri.

Rob also outlined a plan for the town clerk to preside over a floor election for a vacant moderator's seat at Town Meeting after the sitting moderator moved out of town.
