Finance Committee · Meeting of September 30, 2026

Norfolk's Finance Committee cleared a two-year data center moratorium and backed a plan to move Town Meeting and elections to Saturdays. The panel unanimously approved $40,000 from the opioid stabilization fund for Select Board grants, $25,000 for Grange storm windows, and $13,000 for Highland Lake milfoil treatment. Select Board member Anita McClubber, describing the board's ceremonial Town Meeting role, said "we sit on stage, we're very decorative, I wear a nice jacket" while pitching a calendar overhaul that would hold Town Meeting before elections; that article passed with one dissenting vote.

Members tabled a $75,000 Housing Production Plan and a $60,000 trail feasibility study, with one member calling the housing plan cost "a lot for a document." Town Administrator Rob Garrity said the data center moratorium, running through January 1, 2028, followed a Planning Board hearing that drew no public speakers.
